His books A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 and A Shepherd Looks at the Good Shepherd have given me a lot of insight. It is out of that experience that he brings this most beloved Psalm to life. David said in Psalm 23 that, The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. It's no secret that sheep are not the most intelligent of the animal kingdom. I found the key to the treasure store in Psalm 23 many years ago when I read Phillip Keller's classic devotional book, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23. Post I talk about want and wantless. One of my favourite books EVER which I recommend to anyone is called 'A shepherd looks at psalm 23.' David wrote the psalm and he was a Shepherd. Look at Psalm 23 Through The Eyes of a Sheep. It's told by Philip Keller in his classic book, A Shepherd's Look at Psalm 23. If you haven't already read the book (so many have), I recommend A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by Phillip Keller. Shepherds didn't use the rod to beat their sheep – and children are certainly more valuable than sheep. I want to share a true story with you. Keller was born in East Africa and was trained as an agrologist. Phillip Keller, before becoming a pastor and author, was a shepherd for eight years. Since David was a shepherd as a boy, he drew on his experiences as a young shepherd when he wrote Psalm 23, using the analogy that God is to us as a shepherd is to his flock.
